Empowering youth people in the community.

EPIC Youth is now in its 11th year of delivering Youth Work sessions at Long Ashton Community Centre.

Epic Youth was formed by Kathy Jackson in 2012 when North Somerset Council decided to close the Youth Service.

Kathy worked for North Somerset Council youth service since 2005 and has worked in a number of settings including club-based, outreach and detached, and during this time worked for a number of youth clubs including Long Ashton.  As part of her youth work degree, Kathy worked in the Youth Offending Team in Bristol.

To ensure their work is to the highest professional standard all staff are DBS (CRB) checked and hold National and/or NVQ youth work qualifications.

Epic Youth has public liability insurance of up to five million pounds and professional indemnity insurance. They also have a comprehensive set of policies including Safeguarding, Health & Safety and Detached Working which are available upon request.

Long Ashton Youth Club Epic Youth

Epic Youth’s aim is to provide activities which will benefit young people in the community by inspiring and challenging them to reach their full potential and broaden their horizons.

EPIC Youth is built on four key tenets as spelt out by its initials:

Educate Informal and fun activities to allow us to increase knowledge and awareness on issues that are important to them.

Participate Youth work is based on voluntary association, so we have to work extra hard to create a welcoming environment with fun activities so that young people want to get involved.

Inspire Through exploring and learning, having time and space to develop, and by achieving goals, we hope to motivate and inspire young people to reach their full potential.

Challenge Personal and social development evolves from succeeding in challenges. EPIC Youth will try and understand each individual’s personal situation and help them take meaningful steps forward.
