We provide a welcoming and safe environment.

We take the health and well-being of young people extremely seriously and safeguarding is one of the highest priorities of our trustees, youth workers and volunteers.

Safeguarding Training

To ensure our high standard of care, we have a robust safeguarding policy and procedures that include role-specific safeguarding training. This means that all of our trustees are required to complete up to level 3 safeguarding training as standard. This teaches them the common types of abuse, how to recognise them, and how to correctly report their concerns. In addition to this, all our trustees, Epic Youth staff, and volunteers must undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Monitoring Young People

We actively look for indicators that suggest a young person is at risk of harm, such as changes in demeanour or behaviour and make a point of recording these indicators. By monitoring these signs and reviewing them regularly we can identify a safeguarding issue. Indicators we look out for can include changes in physical wellbeing, depression, signs of distress or illness, and noticeable changes such as signs of harm.

Reporting Concerns

We provide a safe place for young people to report any issues or concerns they may have for themselves or somebody they may know.
Our team are excellent listeners and are trained to recognise when harm is occurring to a young person. As part of our reporting procedures, we have a designated safeguarding officer who can direct and support our team.
