This summer, Long Ashton Youth Club embarked on an unforgettable journey of creativity, adventure, and fun with our action-packed summer activities program!
With a fantastic lineup of events designed to engage, inspire, and challenge our young members, this year’s program was nothing short of a roaring success. From graffiti art to tie-dyeing, and two thrilling trips to Mendip, the youth had an absolute blast, making memories that will last a lifetime.
Graffiti with Steve: Unleashing Creative Talent
We kicked off our summer with an amazing graffiti workshop led by the talented Steve. Our young members got to channel their inner street artists as they learned the basics of graffiti art. Armed with spray cans and a burst of creativity, they transformed blank canvases into vibrant masterpieces. It was incredible to watch everyone express themselves through colours and patterns, and the energy in the room was contagious. Steve’s guidance helped our budding artists explore their creative sides, leaving everyone eager for more artistic adventures in the future.
Tie-Dying with Annemarie: A Splash of Color
Next up, we turned our attention to tie-dyeing with Annemarie, and what a splash of colour it was! The young people had a fantastic time experimenting with different tie-dye techniques, creating unique and colourful designs on T-shirts, tote bags, and more. Annemarie guided them through the process, and soon enough, the youth club was filled with a kaleidoscope of swirls, stripes, and vibrant hues. It was a day of laughter, creativity, and, of course, a little bit of mess – the perfect combination for a fun summer activity!
Mendip Adventures: Thrills and Challenges
The excitement didn’t stop there! We had not one but two adrenaline-filled trips to Mendip that tested our young adventurers’ skills, bravery, and teamwork.
First Day Mendip Trip – Assault Course and Canoeing: On the first day, the group tackled an exhilarating assault course that challenged their physical abilities and teamwork. From crawling through tunnels to scaling walls, everyone pushed their limits and cheered each other on. After the assault course, we cooled off with a canoeing session on the serene waters. It was a wonderful opportunity for the young people to learn new skills, work together, and enjoy the great outdoors.
Second Day Mendip Trip – Climbing and Abseiling: The second day brought even more adventure as our group took on climbing and abseiling. With harnesses on and safety instructions in mind, they faced the towering climbing walls. There were moments of nerves and excitement, but the sense of accomplishment as they reached the top was unmatched. The day ended with an exhilarating abseiling experience, where everyone got to conquer their fears and descend with confidence. It was a true test of courage, and the youth club members passed with flying colours!
A Big Thank You to All
The success of our summer program would not have been possible without the incredible support from our community. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the parents and supporters who helped make these activities happen and to the young people who joined us with enthusiasm and spirit. We would also like to thank the Community Transport team for their support in making our trips possible.
A special shoutout goes to the Quartet Foundation whose generous grant made this summer of fun and growth possible. Your support has a lasting impact on the lives of our young people, providing them with opportunities to learn, explore, and thrive.
Here’s to many more adventures, creativity, and community spirit at Long Ashton Youth Club.
